Wrap Up: What I Was Watching In March 2020

So this month was the start of a new weird time where there are no open movie theaters and a lot of things are going to streaming. I decided to start a mini series while this is going on called Isolation Media 101 and includes a bunch of deep dives into streaming services. So most of my extra watching went to those.

Since I don’t have any other movies that I haven’t already written about, here’s some links to my pieces so you can check those round ups! (And my review of Onward, which will be hitting Disney+ early in April and is DEFINITELY worth a watch.)

Isolation Media 101: HBO Edition

First streaming service I went to town on was HBO Now (free trial of course), and man did I find some gems. First off, obviously, if you haven’t watched Succession, that’s a great way to eat up some time in isolation. My favorite movie I watched that week is probably Can You Ever Forgive Me? since it was a Melissa McCarthy I’ve never seen before. HBO is full of films you may not always think about, so I wanted to share my thoughts on anything I could see during that free week.

Isolation Media 101: Disney+ Edition

Disney+ seems like an incredibly solid streaming site for some nostalgia. During my week of nonstop Disney watching, I visited some classics (Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music) and some newer animated flicks (Wreck-It Ralph, Brave) and also watched a few that I felt I should but they turned out not to be worth the time (Never Been Kissed, Blank Check).

Pixar Is Moving ‘Onward’ and Upward With Latest Animated Feature

I believe this movie will be hitting Disney+ within the next week or so, and it is definitely worth a watch (or two). It’s a charming story, a fun voice cast and sneakily funny. If you missed it during its short theater run before the world shut down, get excited to have it available on streaming soon.

Baking & the Big Screen: Homemade Bread & Ratatouille

On the Disney theme, I also decided to check out Ratatouille in full for the first time in hopes of finding some baking inspiration - and I did! I wrote all about my enjoyment of this really cute movie and how much fun it was to bake bread from scratch for the first time.

What do you find yourself watching now that home is the only place to be?
