Since the two stars of the infamous movie The Room haven't shared the screen for more than a decade, it's not surprising that the film that reunites them is a special engagement in theaters across America. Best F(r)iends is a two part movie "series" that tells the twisted, confusing tale of a sketchy mortician (Wiseau) and the drifter (Sestero) he befriends.

At its core, the Sestero-penned movie is a thriller with small nods to The Room and other comedic elements that help break the tension of a truly eerie atmosphere. Wiseau's acting and line delivery still incite a great deal of laughter, though it seems far more intentional in this than it did in his 2003 debut. Sestero leans into Wiseau's antics and allows it to add to his character and the plot, rather than detract from them.

The film benefits from the smaller cast, allowing the audience to spend time with who they really came to see. With there being such a limited period of time to see the two parts (part two will debut in early June across the United States), the audience is mostly made up of The Room fans, which does make it a more enjoyable experience. There's no question of whether or not that was a coincidence or a reference when the whole theater is cracking up.

While this isn't the traditional sequel-needing film, it definitely ends in a way that will have you muttering in confusion and frantically checking to see when the second part is playing nearby. The last quarter of the movie gains more and more baffling momentum, ending in a pseudo-montage that makes you wonder just what it was you watched, and how it will be wrapped up in a sequel debuting soon after.
